The Game of Love

It’s pretty simple, as we are all pretty simple creatures.

Chemistry and sexual urges aside- which in themselves are pretty simple (we strive for validation, and our chemical/sexual urges stem from this goal); there is nothing mysterious about "romantic" love.

99.9% of everything we think about is ourselves, to the extreme point that even when we think about another individual, we think about that individual as they pertain to us. “Does he like me?” “I wonder what she’s thinking about?” Translation: “I wonder if she is thinking about me.” When we start developing feelings for people, especially people who aren’t great communicators, and therefore seem “mysterious”, we aren’t thinking about their unknown thoughts as- "I wonder if he’s philosophizing about gravity or finding a cure for the world’s misery." No, again, we are wondering how much they think about US and how mysterious they find us.

The more self-centered we are, the more likely we will dismiss anyone who does not make special effort to get to know us.

And what’s so special about getting to know you? Nothing. Why? Because the “mystery” underneath that unreachable place evolves around nothing but you you you- and validating you you you- and stroking your your your ego... and yet aside from you just wanting people to validate how special you are, you have never really given any reason as to what makes you special.

You=You. Who?

Who cares! Even you don’t. Because if you genuinely cared about yourself, you would genuinely care about those around you- how to make life for EVERYONE a little easier.

I am human like everyone else, and I am just as boring as everyone else. Trust me.

It’s human nature to be boring, while pretending we’re not. The human condition is so ridiculously predictable, as every thought and every motive always comes back to ourselves- an empty place which we are terrified to face. And yet we’re fucking it all the time.

The moral of the story:

Without open and honest communication, the concept of “love” is laughable. The next time you wonder if a guy/gal you are interested in is thinking about you, remember that he/she is wondering if you/someone else is thinking about him/her. The common factor? You are both thinking about yourselves being thought about- and not about the other person. In reality, crushes are completely self-centered, and can be easily cured by a few masturbatory sessions- preferably in front of the mirror.

The cure for obsessing over someone else is understanding that it’s ALL ABOUT YOU.
